Brief Introduction
to the Middle School

The Middle School Attached to Northwestern Polytechnical
University (abbreviated to NPU Middle School), one of the
firstly¡ªnamed Provincial Demonstration Schools in Shaanxi
Province in 2009,is located at NO.127 West Youyi Road, Beilin
District, Xi'an. Founded in 1971, it is a complete school
including both Junior and Senior ones.
Its campus occupies an area of 51 mu, with the construction
of 30,437 square meters. In our school there is the only one
air-playground with the area of 7,000 square meters in our
country. The relatively- separated Junior part and senior
one have already been built. There are comfortable reading
rooms for teachers and students and a library with over 230,000
books. Altogether we have over 80 different classrooms including
laboratories and functional ones and the campus web with 576
computers, 6 services and 86 revealers.
There are 3 best-class teachers, 88 high-class teachers and
88 first-class teachers. Teachers above media class are 85.6%
in our school. In total, 118 teachers have finished the study
for master degree.
Because of its wonderful results in college entrance examination,
our school has become the base for the famous universities
all of the country in Shaanxi. There are 370 students who
have been admitted into Peking and Tsinghua Universities in
the last eight years. More than 96 percent of the students
have been in the most important and the best universities
in China. In 2004, we got eight of first ten students of Shaanxi
Province in the college entrance examination. What's more,
51 students entered Peking and Tsinghua Universities in the
same year. In the year of 2005, 49 students entered Peking
and Tsinghua Universities. In 2006, 47 students did. The year
of 2007 was also a most important and glorious year, when
69 students proudly studied in Peking and Tsinghua Universities
as fresh students. Meanwhile, there were 29 students entering
6 universities in Hong Kong. In the next two years, the greater
progress has been made. The year of 2008 is a great year when
70 students entered the first two universities. And also the
year of 2009 will be the most perfect year because there are
88 students realizing their dreams to study in the Peking
and Tsinghua Universities, which is an important historical
event in Sanqin Area. In addition, there are about 100 students
studying in the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia and other west
countries. Therefore, NWPU Middle School is regarded as a
best middle school in the mainland.
The results of the high school entrance examination are also
excellent. We have gained 10 first places in Xi'an city in
the past ten years and envelop all the top three places many
times. The number and rate of the students with high marks
are absolutely in the leading place for many years continuously.
The achievement in the National Olympiad of math, physics,
chemistry, and so on is also remarkable and the number as
well as class is always the first in Shaanxi.
Through 30 years' development, we have realized four first
classes in qualification of teachers, conditions of teaching,
characteristics of teaching and learning and culture of campus
and three advances in educational ideas, management of school
and quality of teaching. We have formed the characteristic
of basing on humans and quality first, worshiping practice
and pursuing outstanding and we are honored the star of the
management in ancient city and the light of quality and quantity
in Shaanxi.
In the new century, we are carrying on educational reform
and speeding up the development in order to turn our school
into a famous one that not only produces qualified students
and practical experience but also has important and striking
characteristics.
